Quick planning example: 100 guests for 4 hours → 2 restrooms. If alcohol is served, this site’s illustration adds 1, for a total of 3. Confirm the equipment mix and your venue’s requirements before booking.
Start with people, time, and usable facilities
For a Mentor backyard gathering, count the guests who will attend at the same time and the hours the event runs. Tell NovaSani which indoor or venue restrooms are available. Do not count a restroom that is locked, too far away, or unsuitable for the people attending.
How this site’s event planner works
The planner is an illustrative capacity estimate, not an official event sanitation standard. It starts at 1 unit per 50 guests for 4 hours, multiplies by the event’s hours divided by 4, and rounds up. If alcohol is served, it adds 1 unit for every 5 baseline units, rounding up.
| Example gathering | Baseline | With alcohol |
|---|---|---|
| 100 guests · 4 hours | 2 units | 3 units |
| 250 guests · 4 hours | 5 units | 6 units |
| 100 guests · 8 hours | 4 units | 5 units |
This deliberately simple model does not account for every crowd pattern, interval rush, age mix, servicing interval, or permanent facility. Use it to start a conversation.
Make accessibility part of the total
For portable-toilet clusters covered by ADA requirements, include accessible units in the total. For 1–20 units in one cluster, plan at least 1 accessible unit; for 21–40, at least 2. Multiple clusters need individual checks. Confirm the model, accessible route, turning space, and entry layout.
Put handwashing where people need it
For a birthday party, cookout, or community food event, an exterior wash station lets people wash while the toilet is occupied. Ask for soap, paper towels, and a refill plan, especially for a longer gathering.
Bring the plan back to your Mentor venue
Discuss public-event approvals, existing facilities, and the restroom layout with the venue. Mentor’s temporary-event rules include a restroom location on the site plan where applicable. A lakeside location also needs a stable surface and a plan for wind and wet weather.
