Before delivery: measure the access route, choose a level footprint, keep service access clear, and confirm the delivery contact.
1. Measure the narrowest point
One standard model in the rental examples is about 44 inches wide. A deluxe example is 47 inches wide. Those numbers are not universal gate requirements: the actual model and maneuvering room must be confirmed. Measure the clear opening with the gate fully open.
2. Look above and below
Tell dispatch about overhead cables, branches, steps, steep transitions, soft sand, freshly dug ground, and drainage. A clear-looking Mentor driveway may still have a low wire or an unstable lawn edge.
3. Choose a level pad
The spot beneath the unit must be level and stable. Grass, mulch, or gravel needs an individual assessment. Keep the restroom away from vehicle paths, exits, and places where rainwater collects.
4. Keep the service truck in mind
Delivery is not the last visit. The driver must be able to reach the unit for pumping and collection. Ask about the service approach and hose reach for your specific equipment; do not assume a fixed distance works for every vehicle.
5. Preserve the accessible route
An accessible cabin on soft grass does not create an accessible setup. Confirm a firm route, suitable landing, door maneuvering space, and any compliant ramp. Check the route after rain or snowfall.
6. Prepare for Lake County weather
Rain can soften a lawn, while snow and ice can prevent safe entry or servicing. Discuss winterization and stabilization with the supplier. Do not improvise tie-downs, relocate a unit, or pour chemicals into the tank.
7. Make the handoff simple
Provide a named on-site contact, alternate phone number, entrance pin, and clear placement instructions. Ask for an advance-call note and keep the entrance open during the agreed delivery window.
